Hi guys and girls,
My name is David, Philosophy bachelor and currtently highschool teacher. Oh, and I’m from Portugal.
I came to this forum to learn and get motivation to learn, greek and latin.
I’m thinking on starting with some grammar memorizing and maybe translating some sentences.
Still quite newbie, I know a bit how to get around a grammar and that’s basically it.
That’s it,
David T.
Welcome to Textkit, David!
David,
Welcome! I am here because I am learning Latin. I find it to be a beautiful language, wonderful to read out-loud, and full of deep influence on our world today.
If you are just beginning, I would recommend looking into “Wheelock’s Latin” and “Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata”. The former is a traditional textbook that takes you through the language, with grammar, vocab and exercises in each chapter. The latter is immersive, it is all in Latin. However, it starts with very basic sentences that you can tease out on your own. You can also dip your toe into Duolingo (free online platform); they now have a Latin course that is not too long and is a good place to start.
Good luck and welcome!
