Introduction

Having just read the thread of rules, I feel it necessary to introduce myself

Hello. I’m Mic and I study ancient greek and latin at school. I love classics and I am especially interested in the greeks. My particular interests at the moment are Greek Religion, philosophy and science and the role of greek women. I am taking GSCE greek in a couple of weeks.

Apart from classics I love maths, music and field hockey.

Mic

Hello Mic,

Welcome! However, I probably shouldn’t be welcoming you to the forum, since I’m such a rare contributor. Since you specified your location to be Oxford, I felt compelled to at least make some sort of greeting, be it ever so lacking.

The reason? I’ll be in Oxford next semester, studying Latin (and other subjects, including literature), with a program called Best Semester. As a (somewhat reluctantly) American citizen, I am delighted at the opportunity to skip over the pond for a few months.

Well, that’s it for now. Perhaps I’ll see you while I’m over there.

Spero te laetitiam inventurum esse,

David

Edit: oops.

Welcome to Textkit!

Welcome Mic :astonished: I’m impressed that you’re doing Greek GCSE, it’s far away from jokes such as the popular modern languages, very very techincally at the same level :open_mouth: Which school do you attend?

My Greek professor is the man, but he’s rather eccentric! Sorry I must depart now to collect my Budé (consecrated to Catullus 29) and eat a few trees of broccoli. Have a good day!

Hi Mic and welcome to Textkit!

I find the religion of the ancient greeks fascinating too, not done much study on the subject though

Hi Mic, Welcome!

P.S.:
If you happen to like to read Elements of Euclid in greek, with the figures in it, just tell me , although the text is available at Perseus Digital Library.

I have only done a little bit, at the moment I am learing more about the Roman Religion.

Euclid’s Elements looks interesting. I’ve never read it in English though I know about some of it from going on a Maths Summer School.
