Hello folks,
I’m a new Latin Language learner, and I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m a recently retired software engineer who has always wanted to learn a second language. I came to Latin by watching a video on YouTube about Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata and its approach to teaching, which I find both fascinating, and mind altering.
I’m starting a collection of public domain Latin readers and primers. Most of them, if not all of them, are scans of books from Google Books or the Internet archive, making them less useful than they would be as text. To that end, I’m also interested in OCR, transcription, macronization, and plaintext and EPUB formats. I’m an old UNIX nerd, and as such am a user of GNU Emacs and fond of plaintext processing and tools. I’m especially fond of Whitaker’s Words, and am working on an interface to it from GNU Dicod, which would allow it to be used with any dictionary client that speaks RFC 2229.
Looking forward to talking to folks here on the forums!
