My name is Julie. I am recently retired and having read several versions of Odyssey am intrigued by the variety of interpretations. I live in Hull, a port from which deep sea trawlers and whalers departed and where Daniel Defoe had Robinson Crusoe leave from. It is those journeys and my family connections to them that prompted reading Homer and following a conversation with a writer who read classics at university that sparked this quest to discover the language for myself. My ambition is to write a long poem structured using the forms of the oral traditions Homer does. As I usually write sonnets ten tears may be turn out to be a conservative estimate to reach this goal.
