Hello,
I’m a computer programmer and my whole life I focused only on hard science and never paid much attention to humanities. However, two months ago, I decided to study Catholic Classical Liberal Arts and also to go through the Great Books of the Western World. My main motivation is to obtain education which the greatest men of the past were lucky to do so. In addition I would like to be a teacher to my son. When he’s ready I’m planning to teach him the Liberal Arts including Latin and maybe Ancient Greek later.
I’m a complete beginner and so far I gathered several textbooks to study Latin from like:
- Orbis Pictus by Comenius,
- A Practical Grammar of the Latin Language by Adler,
- De Institutione Grammatica by Emmanuelis Alvari
- Lingua Latina Per se Illustrata
At the moment I’m following the Ranieri-Dowling method. I’ve managed to memorise everything except 4th conjugation and irregular verbs. Hopefully in the next two months I’ll be done with that and I’ll be able to move to LLPSI and Orbis Pictus.
