Introducing myself

I have been reading TextKit posts for a few years so I finally decided to join.

Two years of Latin was required when I was in high school. I switched to German because my science major required it. As an adult I took conversational Spanish because of my interest in flamenco guitar.

Now, some 50+ years later In retirement, I wanted to look back at the classics and listened to The Great Courses “The Aeneid.” In my head I heard: you need to read this in the original language! So I started up Latin again, beginning with The Great Courses “Latin 101”, then Cornelia and other Mima Maxey books, and Fabulae Faciles. I’ve completed Familia Romana and Fabulae Syrae. I am now working on De Bello Gallico. As a self-learner I found this forum offering great help and advice.

My three goals are to read Classical Latin fluently as possible and, being a scientist, to read the scientific texts of Galileo, Kepler, etc., and to read other interesting things: Magna Carta, Carmen de Hastingae Proelio, etc., etc.

Happy to be included.
