If this is an indirect statement, shouldn’t Ea be Eam?
No, because ea is the subject of dicitur (“She is said to have been so gentle …”; mitis likewise nominative, in agreement with ea).
If it were “They say she’d been so gentle …”, then you’d have indirect statement: dicunt eam adeo mitem fuisse …
