Στραγηγοὶ in ΛΟΓΟΣ

στραγηγοὶ appears on p.296. of ΛΟΓΟΣ by Cultura Classica. My research has turned up very little in the way of explanation. Chat GPT insists it is “an orthographic variant of στρατηγοί, not a separate lexeme,” and that “Its repeated appearance reflects editorial and typographical convention, not a distinct Greek term.” If that’s the case, fair enough. I have found it in other texts. Also, I am wondering why Santiago Martinez would include the form in ΛΟΓΟΣ if that is the case, unless it is just to tip the student off for future reference.

Can anyone help clear this up for me?

It must be a (rather common) misprint. It is not an orthographic variant, as AI calculates.

Quite so. It’s not worth a moment of anybody’s time. And I do wish people would stop citing AI answers.
