I need translation help with a question in unicode

Omnes omnibusque–
I have pasted a short sentence below which I have translated as follows. I am not a student taking course work, therefore I’m not trying to cheat faculty or university authorities. If you have a better translation than mine, please help me out. I appreciate your assistance.

My translation is: “The fortunate/happy citizens did not used to believe in the politician because he did not used to say just what it was that he was thinking: therefore he was not worthy of honor.”

hi just quickly, have a 2nd look at how you’re using ?βούλοντο (it’s not a tense auxiliary, but means ‘want to, wish to’), and i think δόξης here has a meaning closer to “credibility” or “credit” in legal terms, rather than “honour”, given the first clause.
