I’ve been looking to make a latin name for a fictional sword fighting academy for a D&D game for one of my players. Atm it’s just called flux academy but I think it can be better. I’m looking to say flowing/floating/gossamer/liquid blade, or academy of the flowing blade, since their fighting style all about surgical precision and moving like flowing water. (Sorry I know this is super nerdy
) I’ve found the words faix and lamina and rasorius while researching online, but I want to be careful to use the right word forms to when making it “academy of the flowing XXXX”, since I’m still new to learning Latin I decided to ask to be sure it’s proper, unless of course a certain mismatch of word forms makes it sound super rad. I’d rather it mean a flowing curved blade, a razor, or an artisan or reaping blade, as opposed to a regular sword or blade name like spatha; and the more effeminate the better, since that’s the whole vibe of the academy. Maybe even something to refer to mercury, since their prized weapons are made out of magically shaped liquid metal. Can ya’ll help me out? ![]()
Acadēmīa ēnsium fluentium
PS. My Latin is fairly basic; someone can probably offer better renditions for the name of your academy in Latin.
no worries! it sounds rad to me! i’ve also been coming up with other cool names for various artifacts of the academy since i posted, so I think the story is in better shape now. ![]()
