How to translate ‘Iis’, LLPSI, CAPITULUM TERTIUM DECIMUM, l.157, p101?

Could someone kindly suggest how the word, iis, might best be translated in the sentence ‘Ab iis diebus menses incipiunt.’?

Perhaps I’m simply overthinking this.

I was thinking maybe ‘these’ but all the angles I followed seemed to suggest that the word ‘his’ would have been used.

I’m probably missing something simple but could anybody perhaps expand upon why the author hasn’t used illis?

illīs would have been emphatic, which is not the case for iīs.

Perhaps another way of thinking about this is to refer back to page 56 "“Hic anulus pulcher non est. Quot sestertiis constat ille anulus?” and the following lines too where “ille” is used to refer to something at some distance from the speaker.

In your sentence the author wants to refer to a list he has just mentioned so illis wouldn’t quite work.
