How do you write a "What did he fight for?" Question

I’m writing my own Latin-Latin comprehension questions for A New Latin Primer Maxey (which I am reading like a comprehensible reader)

But how do you write a question like “What did he fight for?” Maybe…

Prō quā rē pugnāvit? Prō patria pugnāvit. Maybe even Quā prō rē pugnāvit? Prō patria is the expected answer.

Thank you
Jacobulus/Jim

Or prō quō

So if I ask "pro quō…? I don’t (generally) have to worry about what gender the answer might be. e.g. quō is masc or neuter and patria is feminine. (Prō quā because the answer will be patria.)

Latin regularly uses the neuter of the interrogative in such a context, because how does the person asking the question know what the answer is going to be?
