Hi! My name is Jessica, and I’m from Venezuela, Latin America. I’m getting married in December, and we are going to Mykonos for our honeymoon, so I want to learn some Greek before the trip. We will spend two weeks in Greece, and I intend to visit as many places as I’m able to! I’ve always loved the Greek myths, and lately, I’ve been reading Aristotle for one of my politics classes, which has awakened a desire to learn more of the language and culture that surrounded him, and of the country. I hope you can recommend me resources to start, because I’m a total noob! And on that note, do you think Rosetta Stone would be good? I used it for French a couple of years ago, and I had a good experience, but I know it’s not so good for other languages, I wonder if it is good for Greek? Anyways, I hope you don’t mind helping me! Please, be good, I’m trying to learn a language while planning a wedding! 
Well, as you might expect, the Greek language has changed quite a bit over the centuries. We mostly study the ancient language here, but there are a number of forum users who either speak Greek natively or as a second language.
If I were interested in picking up some modern Greek, I would personally find a Greek language recording of a book that I already knew well (likely the Gospel of Mark) and listen to it a number of times until I understood enough of the language to get by.
I don’t know anything about Rosetta Stone for modern Greek. I’m sure that there must be reviews somewhere.
