Hi, I’m a semi-retired guy who has started to learn Greek, again. I’ve tried before but life has always intervened(or at least that’s my excuse). I’m interested in cooking, theology, and leaning Greek, and eventually Latin. I’m working through Mounce and supplementing it with Machen’s text. I hope eventually to be able to both read and write Koine, and read the Septuagint and NT in the original language. Any help form others here will be gratefully accepted. Thanks for reading this. ![]()
Hey John!
I am working through Mounce as well! How is that going for you so far? When I was doing the independent study gig I found John Dobson’s book helpful as well. Lots of reading practice with simple repetitive sentences helped me to learn the forms better than trying to brute force charts. I do like the detail of Mounce though, and I liked how much morphology he works into his book. Mounce is also nice because of how well it is marketed. Being able to buy premade flashcards keyed to his book (and 700+ other words to boot) as well as an audio cd of vocab make learning vocab through his materials a lot easier. I hope you’re doing well in your efforts!
