Ok…so it isn’t as urgent as I made it seem in the topic, but I got your attention, NO?? I was wondering if any of you (especially those of you in America) if you know any programs, places, universities, colleges, benefactors, etc… that help to fund college educations. I’m just looking for a scholarship that might pay my way for school due to a useless talent (namely, Latin skill). LoL…any ideas ppl?? Thanks…
Well, seeing that you are from California, I am assuming that you are an American citizen. If so, you should fill out the FASFA first. It will determine if you qualify for pell grants, student loans & work-study. Also, many university based scholarships utilize FASFA in determining who gets these scholarships, even if the scholarship is merit-based.
Also many schools give priority to incoming freshmen from their state, ie. you may receive more scholarship aid in California. If you don’t receive as much aid as you would like as an incoming freshman, then you have to prove your worth while you’re in college to receive merit-based aid after that. Need-based aid is always determined by the FASFA.
I’m sorry I can’t think of any programs or benefactors that can help you. Though I do know that many universities offer funding for traveling overseas during the summer if you are majoring in one of the languages.
Good luck!
University of Cincinnati, an excellent Classics program, provides awesome scholarships for classics students.
