Hello

Hi everyone, I’m Louis. I got introduced to Ancient Greek at St. John’s in Santa Fe last years. I only stayed about a month, mainly because of health reasons. I dragged all my books home with me, though, and had already fallen in love with Greek. I’ve decided to pursue Greek further because at St. J’s when we read Aristotle in Science class the teacher would occasionally be like “the greek word they translated their was ‘xyz’” and it made reading Aristotle so much more pleasant!

I guess my main interest then is in Attic, but I’ve decided to start learning using Pharr’s text Homeric Greek: A Book for Beginners. I’ve read the Iliad once and the Odyssey twice so I have a passing familiarity with Homer already, and based on the research I’ve done it seems Homer is more pleasant for a beginner to read. I just find Homeric less intimidating than Attic for some reason too.
