H & Q page 77

Could someone check the translation of this sentence from English into Greek, please. It’s from the Review of Units 1-3 on page 77.

We have ordered the men from the island to send both gold and wreaths in order that by means of words we may teach our brothers the art of war.
τοὺς ἐκ τοῦ νήσου ἀνθρώπους καὶ χρυσὸν καὶ στέφανους πέμπειν κεκελεύκαμεν ὅπως λόγοις τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς τὴν πόλεμου τέχνην παιδεύωμεν.

Inflection and syntax are faultless. The only thing I don’t understand is the meaning of the whole sentence (Why need we their gold in order to teach our brothers?)

“the men from the island” (acc.) : τοὺς νησιώτας?

πέμπειν: I would have written πέμψαι
because the various details of the action of sending are not so important.

χαῖρε.

I must admit it didn’t make much sense to me either.
