Grouping of verbs by conjugation.

Nunc tunque exiguum insanum ago (I act a little crazy now and then.)

I have a question I can’t believe this didn’t spirng up before however I don’t think my prof can answer this so I’ll ask on here.

Is there a conceptual reason why certain verbs are grouped by conjugation. I have been taught (as is everyone) that the conjugations are are, Ere, ere, ire. I know this. The question is is this grouping based soley on the sounds of the verbs or is there a larger conceptual reason for how they are paired? Meaning do certain verbs representing certain concepts fall into one conjucation while others fall into another.

No. All that conjugations indicate is the final vowel of the verb stem.

Not quite. Conjugations indicate the pattern that a verb will follow when it is conjugated.

I know that I just was aking conceptually.
