Greetings | χάρις καὶ ειρήνη

Greetings Textkit Community,

A small confession before introducing myself: I haven’t had the opportunity to take a very thorough look around, but I am looking forward to doing so.

A bit about me:
You will probably see me most in the Koine and Biblical Greek section because that is my main focus. I’ve learned a bit of Latin over the years but I am more interested in Greek right now. The Koine period is my main focus.

I began studying Koine in 2005, so I am kind of new to the language still, but probably not as new as some. I have taken courses at three universities.

I have yet to complete a terminal degree, but I earned a MLE (Master of Applied Linguistics and Exegesis) at Trinity Western University, and at the same time, studied at Canada Institute of Linguistics. Part of my focus was on Koine Greek and the Greek New Testament. I studied New Testament Exegesis, did discourse analysis in the Gospel according to John, and analyzed & described Koine Greek using Role and Reference Grammar.

Currently, I work as an Exegetical Advisor and Translation Specialist. I am assisting translators and committees from two different language communities in the South Pacific to translate the Greek New Testament into their languages for the first time. A bit has been drafted into both languages previously, but nothing has been published yet.

My professional background includes teaching English as a second and foreign language and also teaching articulatory phonetics. This year I will teach Greek for the first time to student-translators from four different language communities in the South Pacific.

The curriculum I am developing for Greek will lead the students into Greek using an eclectic communicative approach. I am writing an annotated bibliography for Communicative Koine Greek Pedagogy as I work on developing curriculum (Greek 1-4 and New Testament Exegesis 1-4) for the small institute I work at here in the South Pacific.

Anyway that is a bit about me and what I am up to these days.

Looking forward to reading here, and to posting if I see there is something I can contribute to the community in that way.

Thanks for creating this space, Jeff and others.

χάρις δὲ σοὶ καὶ ειρήνη.
