Grammars

I don’t like searching throught PDF files, so I think I should buy a grammar.

Is Smyth still considered to be the best available?

I would say yes. Certainly for English speakers.

Edit: and if you have the chance to supplement this with Rijksbaron’s The syntax and semantics of the verb in Ancient Greek, then do so.

Cheers.

What if you were to compare grammars for English, French, and German?

Well, I’m in no position to do that. For French the name Chantraine seems to command a lot of respect, for his historical grammars and his dictionary. I don’t know anything about the state of German Greek grammars.
