i was wondering if someone could recommend a good translation of Erasmus–I’m looking for a single volume that has all of “the praise of folly” in it, and perhaps a few other writings.
thanks,
noah
I have a selection called “the Essential Erasmus” which contains “Praise of Folly” and some other interesting selections .It is easy to find a copy ,there are secondhand copies on Amazon . I havn’t got a translation of his letters but I have a selection of them in Latin with notes called ‘Erasmus and his Times’ which is quite easy latin and gives some fascinating accounts of Erasmus’ life and travels to various countries.
thanks, i saw that version and was not sure if it contained the entire “praise of folly” or just selections. i think i’ll grab that one.
cheers.
The Online Library of Liberty seems to have a translation. You could just drop by and check it out.
