Lewis & Short’s Latin-English dictionary,
Smith & Hall’s English-Latin dictionary
Döderlein’s Handbook of Latin synonyms
and Ogilvie’s Horae Latinae.

The other day I looked up posco, and Lewis & Short gave the forms posco ere,
poposci, - and the basic meaning of demand, and Döderlein told me demand
with a feeling of right or power (and the sentence I was reading was of
a Dominus speaking to several youths. Definitely that demanding with a
feeling of entitlement 
B and omitto, ere, omīsī, omissum drop, let go, let fall, give up
(intentionally). The eagle dropping the tortoise on the stone (Aescylus’
bald head). (He didn’t drop the tortoise by mistake)
This is really great, I can see the definition, and the “colour” of the
word at the same time. Awesome!
