A Textkit-user brought an error in my transcription of Adler’s Exercises to my attention (actually one already present in his Key).
Exercise 14:
- Has your tailor my good buttons?–Tenetne sartor tuus orbiculos fibulatorios meos bonos?
- My tailor has your good gold buttons.–Sartor meus orbiculos fibulatorios tuos aureos tenet.
The “good” in the answer was not translated. I am not quite sure where to put it though. One possibility would be “Sartor meus orbiculos fibulatorios tuos bonos aureos tenet.” However, that are rather many adjectives etc. attached to the end. Wouldn’t it be better to say “…bonos tuos orbiculos fibulatoris aureos tenet”? Or something else entirely?
In Exercise 100 I noticed what might be another error:
- What is the value of an aureus?–Quam valorem habet aureus?
According to my knowledge “valor” is masculini generis so that it ought to read “QUEM valorem habet aureus?” However, Adler uses the feminine again a few Q&A later on: “Mina argenti Graecorum valorem habebat eandem cum denario Romanorum.” Does “valor” have a variant gender (masc./fem.)?
I would appreciate your input so that I can correct the Exercises accordingly.
