δοθείη ἡ κούρη πατρὶ φίλῳ I don’t understand the first word in this line. It appears that it might be the 2nd person sg. aorist passive of δίδωμι. I would have expected ἐδόθη. The lack of augment doesn’t bother me, but what about the extra Epsilon and Iota.
Maybe it is a different verb or form altogether.
It might help if I could find the paradigms of the passive voice of -μι verbs in the text book.
It is optative : “may the girl be given back”

There is no need for a specific paradigm. ἐδόθην conjugates exactly like ἐλύθην. Just replace -lu- by -do-.
Thank you. I understand now!
Hi,
And because it’s optative there is no augment.
Cordially,
Paul
