I like the new Avatar William…where is it from?
I split this off the other thread…
A few days ago on Slashdot I saw a link to a site which had a mass of early Soviet sci-fi posters and book covers: Retro-Future: to the Stars!. The same site had a collection of “Outrageous Signs,” where I found my new avatar image. It speaks to me. 
I also printed out a copy at work and pasted it above the backup tape jukeboxes.
Why was my first reaction “I have no mouth and I must scream”?
Even I don’t know (though I know it’s a Harlan Ellison title)
It reminded me of this scene from the Matrix:
Ok…I know I’m going to be the first here to say “I just don’t get it.” I’m assuming it’s one of those bad lost-in-translation episodes? What does the sign really say?
I really does mean don’t be noisy. But something about the words “do not scream” grabbed me by the brain stem. I’m not sure there’s anything to get.
Just a suggestion: You should really put this on the title page of all of Textkit’s downloads. Sort of on the model of “Don’t Panic!” in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
