difficulty reading greek

i got a copy of the ubs4 of the gnt last week and started trying to read 1 john, but soon discovered i was having problems figuring out the words, even though some of them are footnoted at the bottom of the page. i then casually glanced at the next page and discovered that i COULD make out some of what was being said in verses 12 - 14. some words i can look at and automaticaly translate, other i have great difficulty with. can anyone tell me how long it should take an individual to be able to read through 1 john 1?

This won’t answer your question because I have no idea. I do know there are parts that are easier and other parts not so. Read the parts that are easier. Save the harder parts for later.

I found parts of the gospels good for a late beginner.
