Contraction conundrum

Smyth §59 has a helpful table for contractions, showing what happens when vowels contract with genuine and spurious ει. It gives η+ ει (sp.) = η with the example τῑμήεις > τῑμῆς.

I can only think that what’s meant is the gsg. of τῑμή, but that makes no sense to me.

It’s referring to the (poetic) adj τιμήεις εσσα εν. The nom sing can contract to τιμῆς
