classics degree

Does anyone know of a place where a degree (B.A.) in classical studies is obtainable by a correspondence course or internet course?

I think there is a place in Canada. Cannot think of the name, though. Look around.

Yeah, look around. You can’t miss it  .
Try Athabasca. I have no idea if they have what you want but they do offer a lot of of-campus courses.

Thanks guys, I’ll check into it!

I don’t believe Athabasca has a classics degree, though they have some history-type stuff.

Waterloo used to have a classics degree by distance learning but they cancelled it a few years ago.

I don’t know of any others. :frowning:

I am doing mine at the University of New England in Armidale, in Australia. http://www.une.edu.au/
It would cost more for an overseas student than an Aust. citizen, but it might be worth checking out if you can’t find anything else. I would be most surprised if there wasn’t something in the USA - but perhaps because the space between large cities is so great in Oz we have had to develop distance learning.

The places in Canada either don’t offer classics, or not all courses are available in the U. S. I’ll certainlty look into the place in Australia. Thus far I’ve found very little in the U. S.

And sounds like a good excuse for a holiday in Australia - so you can say hello to your lecturers! I go to the university once a year for a residential class (but it’s not compulsory) and combine this with visits to my family. We often get people “dropping in” from various African and Asian countries. The lecturers will answer questions by email and they have various exam centres world-wide. Good luck!

au contraire. You’ve never looked at York University, have you?

look into University of Iowa. I believe theirs goes toward a BA.

I’ll confess that I’ve not looked at either of those, are you guys going through them?

Can you post here a URL?

Cordially,

Paul

Doesn’t U Kentucky have one too?
