I am having trouble understanding the translation of a sentence from chapter 30 in “Evidence and Confession.” The sentence reads:
“Semper providi quo modo in tantis insidiis salvi esse possemus.”

Could you please explain why “salvi esse possemus” means “we can be saved”?

The sentence is an indirect question (owing to quo modo), so possemus is a subordinate subjunctive following the main verb providi. Salvi is an adjective modifying the implied subject (nos) of possemus.
