Can anyone suggest some good books on early church history and the history of today’s Koine text of the New Testament?

There’s one called “A General Introduction to the Bible” by Norman Geisler. It’s dry but informative. It goes through the history, texts, etc. If I remember correctly it is written from a Christian perspective, but also has a lot of info suitable to anyone.
The Text of the New Testament, by Bruce Metzger of Princeton University, is the classic textbook used in seminaries all around America.
