BLD Ex: 82 Part 1 #3

It is asking to translate from Latin to English the following: amici legati mali.

My translation is: “The friends of the wicked lieutenant”.

Does this seem correct or could it be “The wicked friends of the lieutenant”?

You could have either one there :wink:

That seems rather ambiguous. I guess I think that wicked (mali) should qualify the noun lieutenant (legati) because it is adjacent to it.

But, what about the Latin phrase amici mali legati? That would seem to be totally ambiguous.

Perhaps friendly, evil soldiers? :wink:

That could have the same meanings as the previous sentence, with different emphases on the words.
