When I was a kid I used to play and sing the original, and had hoped never to hear it again. But this is hilarious. Thank you Qimmik!

Yes, many thanks, Qimmik! It brightened up my day.
The challenge of learning to write flowery Akkadian beckons.

This is so good that it deserves a bump.

“I side with all the Orthodox, and censure the heretical. I print, I wrinkle brows of any liberal who wrinkle mine, and counter all the thesis of that vigilante Finkelstine ! > Then > I can give a lecture on the logic of Leviticus … I am the very model of a biblical philologist.”

Pretty well sums up most (if not all of you) here, doesn’t it ?

BRAVO!

I went through a G&S phase when I was 11. I had the D’Oyly-Carte recordings (with Martyn Green). My favorite was the Nightmare Song from Iolanthe, which I memorized and annoyed everyone I could by obsessively singing it off-key.

Magnificent!
whoever make this song, I think they give an impression that biblical philology (and maybe philology in general) is a deep and rich subject!
I am really convinced!
