Salvete!!!
Hello everyone. I am a beginner in Latin. I loved it since I was a child because my grand-grand father was a fluent speaker. However, he died when I was quite young and I forgot all I had learned so far. He was one of my best mentors.
My native language is Spanish and I am kind of new to English. I began learning it two years ago when I moved to the United States. Therefore, I apologise for any error you might find.
It is my last year as a high school student and by the end of June I will be beginning my university studies in Architecture.
This year, after my birthday, I decided to revive my love and passion for Latin. Since I had the opportunity to buy materials to achieve such goal, I went to Barnes and Noble and bought Beginner’s Latin: Teach Yourself by g.d.a sharpley. I am only in the “alpha” of the book, but I am delighted with it and enjoying it so much that I can barely put it down.
I went to the public library in my town to see if I could find any books in Latin, especially in basic Latin, but unfortunately, I did not. I was outraged to hear from the librarians that they did not buy anything in Latin because it was a dead language and an useless one!!! Filled with sorrow and anger, I dedicated minutes of my leisure to look other sources on the internet and luckily I found this wonderful and promising website
So, I guess I just wished to present myself and greet you all. I better stop writing…
So long amicos… ![]()
The phrase below is one of the most frequently said by my grand-grand father, which he wrote in one of his notebooks. I know the translation in Spanish, but it was a coincidence that I found it in the Latin book mentioned above:
Whom do we value more, the one who sits for dinner or the one who serves?
