Hi all!
If you’ve been around these forums as long as the admin have, you may remember me from a few eons ago. Back when the design was green (was it green?) and less swanky (looks good now!).
I studied Koine in college, dabbled in Hebrew and Latin, and then somewhere along the way forgot it all.
Now I find myself reading the Stoics. Lo and behold, some of them wrote in Koine. I find myself moved to pick it up again.
I’m starting with Epictetus. I heard somewhere that his language is “simple”. Maybe not so simple when one hasn’t cracked a Greek text in upwards of 20 years. I have a parallel text, Middle Liddell, my old textbooks, and the lovely perseus.tufts.edu to help me with parsing. But I would love to know if anyone else here is reading/studying the Stoics.
Thanks especially to Joel/jeidsath for keeping this project going after all this time. I’m so glad that this resource is still here and I’m looking forward to getting to know who is here now. ![]()
