I just heard about this on the news. He was a terrific guitarist from Mali, and he died today from cancer at 67. I’ve only heard two of his albums, but they were very striking. It’s often described as “African blues”; I’m not sure that’s a very adequate name, but I think he was influenced by American blues musicians. I would encourage people to listen to him if it sounds interesting. Any other fans out there?
