4th declension endings - LLPSI or Wheelock's?

Had me scratching my head for a while. I tend to use Wheelock’s for reference, but it (and just about every other reference) uses alternative endings to what are used in LLPSI.

Should I just use the LLPSI versions because that’s what I’m learning from? Or is one preferable to the other?

Gildersleeve 61.1 says “Ab. dom-ū (sporadic), domō”

P 262 of Wheelock gives "domō (abl.), from home and also domō is given in the vocabulary on p. 262

Where you extrapolating from the declension of frūctus and cornū?

Stick with domō and be careful with the other resources you use. The two stems of domus can be confusing.

I wonder why, just for my personal curiosity, you use those other resources. Most things are explained well in the companion.

Quick look-up. Simple as that. I also have a dictionary on my Kindle.

I have a habit of cross-referencing and comparing. Years of being technical.

We’ve just done this using Sidwell and Jones Pg 71/72 of G&E book.

Nom. Domus. Domus
VOC. Domus. Domus
ACC. Domum. Domus (domos)
Gen. Domus (domi ). Domorum (domum)
Dat. Domui (domo) Domibus
Abl. Domo. Domibus

Macron over Gen sing u and I, over Dat sing I and o, over Abl sing o.
Macron over u for Nom, VOC and ACC u. Plus over o in ACC pl and o of Gen pl.

It gives a note saying,
domus used with prepositions means house but it means home when used without a preposition.So domum =to home, domi=at home, domo = from home.

Our magister said, domum=to home (I’m going home) like in the Monty Python sketch; domi= at home /in the home and domo= from home. Hope it helps.:+1:
