καθάπερ τοῦ λευκοῦ πέρι τότε ἔλεγον, κἂν εἰ σμικρόν, καθαρὸν δ᾽ εἴη, τοῦ πολλοῦ καὶ μὴ τοιούτου διαφέρειν, τούτῳ γ᾽ αὐτῷ τῷ ἀληθεστάτῳ
as I said then about whiteness, even if small, it was pure (apodotic δε), that it differed from what was numerous and not such, by this very truth.
Does this εἴη still depend on εἰ? Or, should I translate: if it was small and pure (connective δε), etc.
