Anki (both the desktop version and AnkiMobile) now supports a new free-spaced repetition scheduler add-on. From what I've read, the algorithm is supposed to be around 10 per cent more efficient than the one Anki normally uses.
I haven't used it long enough myself to see much of a difference, but I did see an initial spike in the number of daily reviews after I switched.

The installation process is straightforward. See the section entitled 'Usage' for detailed instructions on installation/optimisation:

Things do get a bit more complicated if you want to retrain your deck with the algorithm based on your review history. After you upload your deck (which you need do only once), the optimiser calculates the optimal spacing parameters for you personally.
It's also easy to go back to the original algorithm if you decide FSRS isn't for you.
