Hello, I'm new to the forum

Post by Wanderer »

Greetings all,
I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm entirely new to the 'school' of languages, but have had the desire for quite some time. I'm hoping to make good acquaintances and find others with a similar inclination to learn/study Greek. I'm a 30-something, network administrator from Ontario, Canada. Any other canucks around? Hope to speak to and contribute with many of you soon!

Not at all. I was just throwing that out there to see...

Though I would imagine there's not many, as you say. I can't think of one person I know that has a similar interest! :?

Who are you referring to? And what is a Gaiaonline dweller?

In the real world, you have friends with whom you choose to associate thyself with. On the internet, however, you have a friend who asks not for your approval, he is a compelled friend, his name is Google.

Feel glad here, Wanderer.
Here all men are welcome (even if they are Gaiaonline dwellers (!!??))

Welcome Wanderer,

I was born a canuck, but now I am a naturalized American. I was born in BC, on Vancouver Island. Now I live right outside of Vancouver, Wa. Sarcasm is easy, irony is hard to do.

The voice of Epi lives! It has found a new form. Now if only we can get this one to learn some languages and start lifting weights we can have an acceptable replacement. BTW....has anyone seen Epi around?

I'm going to move soon to the US but pretty close to the borders with Canada. Do I fit the bill  Pathetic efforts to tongue-in-the-cheek comments aside, a warm welcome from Greece.

Where are you moving to Irene?

I live in the Pacific Northwest, about 4 hours from the Canadian border.

Ann Arbor Michigan. Not as close as you are but close enough I'd say (compared to the main bulk of the US at least :) )

Ah, Ann Arbor - I always like to go see the Pistons play. :) I lived in Windsor for most of my life. Neat.

I would think that Ann Arbor isn't anymore than 1.5 to 2 hrs from Canada.

Its about 45 minutes from the Detriot/Windsor border crossing - probably closer to the Port Huron/Sarnia crossing in fact.

Hi, Wanderer. If you see me in Kemp's in Ottawa, buy me a drink! Irene-Want to exchange houses for a while? I would love to spend a year in Athens (I'm aware of the down-side, but still) Ottawa is extremely picturesque and the people are nice-lots of parties if you like that sort of stuff (I do). I've just been to Greece twice and always, just when you are learning your way around-it's time to go.

Part of my space-time continuum passes close to that of Canada. In other words I once flew across Canada in 2000. 8)
