### Inverse of Donut

What is the inverse of donut?

Methinks inversing a donut would result in a universe full of donut with a donut-shaped hole!

mmmm....

### Re:Inverse of Donut

The inverse of donut is a donut-hole. I like donut holes, but not as much a donuts, although in quantity I would think they are both reasonably comparable.

### Re:Inverse of Donut

I think the inverse of a doughnut would be an infinitely large doughnut with a doughnut-dot in the center of its hole. ;D

### Re:Inverse of Donut

The dot that comes out of the hole of the donut, definitely. Because the hole contains the essence of the donut; therefore, a donut-dot with a circle of hole around it is the exact opposite of the donut. (And also less fun to eat.)

### Re:Inverse of Donut

But... well, the hole of a donut isn't just a 'dot'! It would be, if donuts were 2D hollow circles... but considering the 3D objects that donuts are, the donut hole actually extends beyond the space enclosed by the donut to the space that encloses the donut.

...or something

### Re:Inverse of Donut

Once I read an article that says the inside of a donut(they call it torus) and the entire space outside the donut is topologically identical, sharing the boundary.

(Let me do a bit of search-work...)

Click and take a look at the animations here.
;D

### Re:Inverse of Donut

What is inverse of donut shape AND essence?

imagine a world filled with the essence exept a small empty hole of donut-shape.

Then the essence is inside the inverse of a torus, which is again a torus. To say, the ESSENCE outside the torus is also inside another torus, which makes also a donut.--let's call it the BIG donut.

Well, then the problem will be "what is the inverse of the essence of donut?".

If it is the voidness, then, flip the torus and you get the big donut, and then exchange the essence and the void to get the original "SMALL" donut.

If it is yet another thing, the discussion goes on to find the inverse of essence.
### Re:Inverse of Donut

The opposite of essence is nothingness...the opposite of something is nothing...therefore, the inverse of essence of donut is a world completely without donut-without idea of donut.

I doubt that's the answer you're looking for.

Keesa

the inverse of a donut is of course an anti-donut. you have to understand anti-matter to get this. it would be a reverse image of the donut.

As Jarod The Pretender once asked: If this is the hole (pointing at the donut), why do they call this the donuthole (pointing at the donut-hole)?

### essence?

The essence of donut? is that like a deodorant or aphrodiasiac for truckers and or very over weight people?

The inverse of a doughnut is simply a doughnut hole, aka munchkin. If you have a sphere of no matter surrounded by a torus of matter, then the inverse is simply a torus of no matter surrounding a sphere of matter. Simple as that. Have a nice day!

Or an anti-dounut...which would resemble the munchkin in some way still.

But an anti-doughnut wouldn't be the same as the inverse of a doughnut... Instead of being composed of matter, an anti-doughnut would be composed of anti-matter. So I don't think it would be quite the same...

maybe a doughnt would be better tasting if it was an anti-doughnut though. i mean, if you had a glazed doughnut and an anti glazed doughnut, and u eat them, they would be opposites right? Chocolate and Vinilla!

After a long and grueling morning of research, I have found the answer to the question that has puzzled philosophers for months: the true inverse of donut.

The true inverse of donut is the donut box that had one donut (which you had planned to eat for breakfast) but now has no donut (because little sister had the same idea). The empty donut box is everything that donut is not; the wistful yearning that donut satisfies; the lack of sweet, gooey donut-ness that donut is, the absense of the glorious expectation of donut, which is replaced by deep depression and despair at loss of donut.

No doubt about it...this is the opposite of donut.

AND I WANT MY DONUT!!!!!

I didn't see this thread! What a funny topic.

I think you have hit this one right on. The inverse of a dounut would be this. I think what you could say is that the inverse of a donut is no dounut.

And the empty do(ugh)nut box (alas... oh do(ugh)nut box so empty and forlorn) is of course composed of antimatter, and devoid of anything except the bitter air of disappointment and impulsive desire.

although I don't think keesa's answer can be surpassed, I am wondering whether perhaps an argument might not be made for an iced frappacino, sucked through a straw?

What about donuts with no holes, like Bismarcks? What about the filling inside them? Have they no voice here? And what is the opposite of a donut hole (the vacuous ones, not the ones you eat) if not filling?

What would happen if you inversed such a no-hole donut? A universe of donut with a hole in the centre that has no donut hole that would be donut and not hole?

Ok... I'll post my opinion now.
The inverse of a donut is a ball of icing in a box in a universe full of donuts.

I'd better hide my head in a brown paper bag now - one with donuts in it !

Potato chips. I should think this would be obvious. Just think: Donuts are sweet, potato chips are salty. Also, the shape. Potato chips are flat and they crumble easily, unlike donuts, which are round and fat and very squeezable.

But they are both scrumptious! ^_~

Since I've come to this discussion late (just joined textkit today) I will give my totally different answer to the question of what is the inverse of donut.

Let us first define donut in terms of it's food characteristics.

It is sweet, with lots of carbs. It satisfies the appetite quickly, but has little staying power - within an hour you find yourself needing something more.

So what would it's food inverse be?

not(sweet) = savory
not(carb) = protein/meat

So the inverse of donut would be a solid chunk of roast beef, or maybe a nice T-bone steak.

Yes. 1/donut in terms of nutritional value is whey protein. Which I eat often. But no donuts, thus obeying dem Inversen Theory.

### die Theorie für Inversion

Recipe for making 1/doughnuts:

To make a 1/doughnut in accordance with die Theorie for inversion you will require:
* 5 litres of molten lava
* 1 doughnut
* Peppermint Sauce
* Salt to taste

Mode of preparation:
1. Take the molten volcanic lava in a volcanic lava can.
2. Put a doughnut into it when molten and stir.
3. Allow mix to cool.
4. The doughnut would have vapourised/burnt/incinerated leaving solidified lava with doughnut-shaped hole.
5. This is required inverse of the doughnut.

6. Serve chilled with peppermin sauce.

The tastetexture is bittercrumbly, exactly the inverse of a doughnut, The shape is as close to 1/doughnut as possible with a finite ammount of ingredients.

So, Voila... 1 doughnut^(-1) is ready.

### Inverse of a donut

As I see it, the inverse of a donut is a biscuit within a hole.

...and no one has thought of the possibility of an inverted jelly-filled donut? Think of the topological ramifications of this discussion if one began with a cruller or perhaps the more mundane midwestern bear claw?

All this rubbish about the inverse of doughnut is ridiculous. You are ALL missing the point. In the words of the incredibly deep and philosophically rich Homer Simpson...

Mmm...Doughnuts.....

Thank you. Issue resolved. You may all bow in acquiescence to my superiority.
