Easy little texts?

Post by egein »

Hæjó,
I'm looking for easy (and printable) little texts, not homeric poetry, to begin with.

What about the little stories in White's First Greek Book? (On the Textkit site). There is one each chapter - a continuing story about Cyrus and Artaxerxes and various battles etc. All the vocab. is at the back of the book and White has added a few notes to get you over the tricky bits.

Hi egein
Some time ago I sent Jeff a book of easy Attic stories - I can't see it listed so will chase it up with him - it could be just what you're looking for
Cheers, Koala

there's Apollodorus's Library, which I found easy to read. http://www.mikrosapoplous.gr/texts1.htm
basically it's a collection of myths, so if you enjoy mythology, you'll find this interesting.

Wow Elis.....great link! I'd never seen that site before...talk about a wealth of downloadable greek texts!

BTW....I second Apollodorus. I read his first book in the Loeb series over the last year or so....it was very enjoyable and fairly simple greek.

Of often mysterious provenance, unfortunately, though there does seem to have been some effort to identify the sources better than has been done in the past.

I third Apollodorus, but fables are also a good choice. http://www.aesopica.net/ has three verse and one prose editions of Aesop's fables. There are sometimes typos in the text.
