Gosh.
At least it's not on the scale of the Parthenon Code idiocy.

Alas, all too serious. I refrain from linking to it here, since the author is reported to send nasty-grams to people who disagree with him.Adelheid wrote:The Wilkens (Troy in England) theory I knew about, but the Parthenon code is new to me! I nosed around on the internet: is this really a serious effort or is it a joke?

Somebody who thought Bible Code was not a humbug must have named it.Adelheid wrote:I must confess that I am curious about books like that. Just because I'm intrigued by how the authors came to their conclusions and (perhaps the more interesting question) why.
The title (Parthenon Code) did at first sound as a parody to me.

I think it is called a "get rich quick" scheme. People who write this kind of book probably used to sell expensive and useless diet pills before getting on to a much safer way of gulling the public - there is no FDA or similar body controlling crackpot theories in best selling books (a pity!). Actually, not a bad idea - I might do one about the ancient Greeks really being from outer space, the "wooden horse" was really a flying saucer......Adelheid wrote:I must confess that I am curious about books like that. Sadly, most of the general public would no doubt believe it - what did P T Barnum say about this?

In the case of the Parthenon Code (as far as I can tell from the info on the internet ) I would say it has more to do with a need/wish to trace everything back to the bible or to at least connect everything to the bible, than with making a fast buck.I think it is called a "get rich quick" scheme

Adelheid
