Oh, I see. No offence intended.mingshey wrote:Yes, the liquor is soju, a distilled rice wine, very popular in Korea. You are right about the items around. but the fruit is actually NOT half-eaten, but cut for the ritual, say, to let the spirit taste it. The logic of the ritual is very simple. It's like serving "tea and biscuit' for your guest, and saying hello.
Those wild boars seem to be absolutely everywhere, but never in any great numbers. Strange, considering it's mostly a herbivore. And there's actually few bears left in Korea, but a wild boar, maybe. Though I never saw one in my life.

this is a great thread! (eventhough it took ages to load lol). Haven't been online for days now (the internet wasn't working on the pc at school, dunno why, shame we only have one at school) and I come back and find loads of pictures online! yippy!
I'll post two soon, one to mirror William's (me on the top of St Peter's with Rome in the background ) and one of me taken two weeks ago .
gtg, others are getting annoyed, been on the pc too long - i want to go home to my own pc .

Can't wait to see them. Have never been to either city but would love to go.jeff wrote:I like this theme of pictures of us in the great cities of the word. I'm looking for my Madrid and Sydney pictures.
Emma, that's great! If we piece our two pictures together we'll have a panoramic view of Rome. When were you there, by the way?

Haha...maybe we should have a thread with pictures of us each with a plastic bullhorn hidden in the photo somewhere.1%homeless wrote:Hmm... how far apart in time were those two pics taken? I went to Rome just this summer in June, the other photo was taken three weeks ago. I think the problem is that it was very windy and sunny in Rome so I'm pulling a bit of a face in that picture... plus the lighting makes my face look strange... heheheHmm... how far apart in time were those two pics taken? The white thing is one of the straps from my old school bag, which in reality is really dirty.

Well, I suppose Rome changes your hair color too. Anyways, you're right, it has that Godfather kind of lighting where shadows are cast under your eyes. The other pic I assume is shot from a higher angle because we see more of the top of your head. It's an effect to make your face more narrow. It's also lighted from the front. For some people, it's a normal phenomenon to look really different from picture to picture because their face is sensitive to photographic variance. You just need to change one aspect of photography like lighting or angle --and voila, you have a new person: Godfather Emma Photography is fun and really helps with drawing and vice versa. Illustrators and painters that are snobby and snooty about photography have to learn the hard way about visual reality.I think the problem is that it was very windy and sunny in Rome so I'm pulling a bit of a face in that picture... plus the lighting makes my face look strange... hehehe

Not in a big city, but at home. All pictures of me in famous cities are from a pre-kids era. Nowadays, holiday pictures are of the kids in famous cities...or just of the kids, whereever they are.
So this is me behind the kids' computer. As you can see, they have been tearing at the wallpaper there .

He actually lives in the garden, but sometimes comes to read portions of Iliad.
When I was a child I tried several times to bring home hedgehogs (and salamanders, bats and so on) but my brother and I never convinced my mom.
Especially she didn't appreciate the snake

I do, though Jenny got to him once, she cut his wing, but he made a quick and full recovery. I'm really careful when he is out of his cage helping me with my Latin homework.Aurelia wrote:
