Picture Thread

Post by Kopio »

Ok....at the request of 1% Homeless I'll take a at starting a picture thread....all who can and are willing to contribute, please do....

Here is a picture of my wife and I when we were visiting our family in San Diego last summer...

Image

FWIW....I have quite a bit more hair now (it's about 1 1/2 inches and kinda spikey) AND, my wife is even more lovely now (I keep telling her she gets more beautiful every day!)

And yes, I know I need a good shave, but I was on vacation for heavens sake!

Nice photo, William (Annis)! BTW, is that the back of your head we can see in your avatar, the front of which is looking at the relief of the centaur and lapith? (in the British Museum?? When were you over here?)

Yours,

Phylax

Yep, that's me, from my trip to London in February.

Lads, by the way, that picture of 'me' was indeed not I at all. Hae sunt meae confessiones...I am a bodybuilder but look nice not disturbing like that classic NUTJOB! What a man to him, whoever he be. His traps are quite good actually.

Annis - looking good...but, are you wearing lipstick? If not you have naturally sweet lips. That sounded queer but not intended.

*sigh* No. My lips are just that way (though a camera seems to exaggerate the effect).

This is possibly the funniest thing I've heard all month.

Nice photo, William(Annis)! I was always a bit curious what you looked like, and if the man in your avatar was you.

And William(William), you are not odd looking. I watched Cats, the musical, and now I know cats were men.

That sounds awfully close to "you got a purty mouth boy" (from the movie "Deliverance"). If I were you Annis, I would be a little afraid.

Just kidding, I could not resist.

C'mon you guys, so far William, Aurelia and I have been the only people to turn in "real" pictures of ourselves. That DOESN'T count Epi....who sent in a FAKE picture of himself....I guess I'll just have to assume he's just a pasty, skinny, English lad with bad teeth (sorry Epi...you had it coming for duping us all) UNLESS, of course, we see a genuine picture with a signed note from his Mum that confirms it's him!

So.....can we get something other than cat pictures....or should I start a seperate "Pet Pictures" thread??? I know that Mingshey has a digital camera, either that or someone else took the picture of his lovely daughter (she really is cute!)

Yes, I have one(And, Thanks! :)). But something has gone wrong with it. The AF system's gone mad since I dropped it and repaired it a couple of times. And I don't make a nice picture. But I could choose a picture my wife took, of me with my daughter. Just a couple of days; I seldom have the leisure to turn on my home PC these days.

Rhuiden, he should not be afraid, I was just saying. I am not queer! I have a girl who has lovely lips.

Kopio, had I a digital camera you surely would see a picture of me. I have more mass than that random nut, bigger everything, plus girls in school ask me to marry them and hate on the girl I love. I am only pasty if you put paste on me. My teeth are white and clean. In shape they are average. See I am being honest. My teeth are nothing special, but fair enough.

Aurelia aww you look lovely girl, why do you give me the impression that you don't think yourself to be pretty. Why also pictures from such a time ago?

Lads, I can't afford a digital camera all my paper goes on random books and protein. Es ist schwer, im GHETTO zu wohnen.

I know the reference. Somewhere on a dj mix tape I have an obnoxious techno song that samples liberally from that scene.

Thanks :) I didn't have any recent pics on my computer, but now I do! This was taken a couple weeks ago when my cat decided to go into zen mode and make all of her blood rush to her head (she couldn't walk straight after this!)

My wife, me, and my daughter at the tomb of my wife's father.
This picture is taken this September and the day was rather hot. The tomb is on a steep hillside and I am sweating after bringing my daughter up the hill.

Well, Mingshey and Wiliam Annis look almost exactly how I pictured them (no comment on the lips, Will). Mingshey, is that a beer bottle in the bottom left corner? :o

Probably not beer, but a Korean alchoholic beverage for the rituals.

Paul, is that a real-life painting?

Yes, I suspect that the newspaper, half-eaten fruit and empty plastic cup were also for the 'ritual'.

There's an "Oil Painting" effect in nearly every picture editing system I know of. Paul's photo has that look.

Bingo! In this case Photoshop.

I thought it wise to 'soften' my visage..... :)

Your visage needs softening?

It is nice to see some of the faces that belong to the names.
I would put a picture on if I had a digital picture or a scanner.
Maybe I'll get my niece to do it for me when I see her around Christmas time.

If you snail mail me a photo, whichever one you want, I can scan and post it here for you. Wouldn't take me more than ten minutes once I got the pic.

PM me if you're game.

Well. I did not expect a picture thread to happen. I was away working more than 70 hours this week and didn't have time to go online. It's funny that the people I thought least likely to post a pic actually participated. See, aren't picture threads fun? :)

Chad reminds me of Will (Annis) a bit, but without the sexy collagen lips. That's not to say Chad isn't sexy cuz he does have that sexy chic nerd look.

Mingshey, my arms are going to get carpal tunnel syndrome from scrolling too much, how about cutting the size of the pic?

Yes, the liquor is soju, a distilled rice wine, very popular in Korea. You are right about the items around. but the fruit is actually NOT half-eaten, but cut for the ritual, say, to let the spirit taste it. The logic of the ritual is very simple. It's like serving "tea and biscuit' for your guest, and saying hello.
A small portion of the food and wine is sometimes scattered around(with shouting "Kosire!") when you go a picnic in the outdoors. It is said to be for the spirits of the nature - not like the spirit of your ancestor - it is "take it and go away". And there's actually few bears left in Korea, but a wild boar, maybe. Though I never saw one in my life.

Once when I didn't have a digital camera, I ran a painting program, filled the screen with black, held my face still in front of the screen, closed one eye, and followed the reflection of me behind the screen with white. That was for the icon of xterm and the painting program was an icon editor. I don't have that pic of me now(sigh...). The result was acceptable for an icon, and better than my real pic. :D
