Hi all, for anyone not already subscribed to Ancient Rome Live, just a heads up that the host has kicked off an 8-part documentary series on the Via Appia, travelling its full length:

The Via Appia (Antica, as it's now called) is one of my favourite places in Rome (I start every trip to Rome with a 30k to 40k+ step count walk from central Rome as far down the Via Appia as I can get: I always rave to everyone about this spot; it's pretty rare in a capital city to be able to walk from the centre for a few short hours and be in full countryside, not seeing other people sometimes for hours, and being surrounded by antiquities) but I haven't really got very far down the full road, and so greatly looking forward to this new series!
Cheers, Chad

Hi Chad,
Thanks for the tip. I love the Via Appia, tried to trace it by bicycle all the way to Brindisi, but I am sure I missed a lot.

Thanks Chad I will look at this.
At times, perhaps particularly at the weekend, there seemed to me to be a lot of cyclists using it as a race track?

It would be very busy with walkers, runners, mountainbikers alike. But the further you go, the quieter.
