The discovery of Milton's Shakespeare?

Post by jeidsath »

Jason Scott-Warren's original blog post:

https://www.english.cam.ac.uk/cmt/?p=5751
I’m going to claim to have identified John Milton’s copy of the Shakespeare First Folio of 1623.
There is also a Guardian article with more art and less matter: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/ ... been-found
“One might get one’s Greek from the very lips of Homer and Plato." "In which case they would certainly plough you for the Little-go. The German scholars have improved Greek so much.”

That's amazing!

Thanks for sharing. One singular genius contemporaneously commenting on another singular genius' work. Great article.

If anything I prefer Milton to Shakespeare, although even Milton recognized Shakespeare was his superior.
