Looking for: series "Clari Romani"

Post by Carolus Raeticus »

Salvete,

I am looking for PDFs of the series "Clari Romani". Google-Books lists the following:

A. J. Schooling - 1910
Metellus and Marius: The Jugurthine war (simplified text)
https://books.google.at/books?id=l04yAQAAMAAJ

H. J. Dakers - 1910
Julius Caesar: Simplified Text
https://books.google.at/books?id=pE4yAQAAMAAJ

C. H. Broadbent - 1910
Camillus: (simplified text)
https://books.google.at/books?id=hcRAAAAAMAAJ

A. J. Spilsbury - 1912
... Life of Augustus
https://books.google.at/books?id=0F4wAQAAMAAJ

Walter Lionel Paine - 1909
Agricola: (simplified text)
https://books.google.at/books?id=h04yAQAAMAAJ

Unfortunately, I am presented only with the cover. I cannot download these books, even though they are clearly in the public domain (published before 1923). Could someone check if these books can be downloaded from the USA (and perhaps upload them to Archive.org)?

Valete,

You can get at least some of them from Hathitrust.

To find out which ones are available in Full View, you will need to use a proxy to fool Hathitrust into thinking you're in the US. I suggest the Hola plugin for Chrome. Here's an example that is in Limited View without the proxy, but in Full View with the proxy enabled: https://m.hathitrust.org/Record/001724467

When you have found your book, use the program Hathi Download Helper:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/hathidownloadhelper/

There is an option to use a proxy to download books from outside the US.

Salve Nesrad!

The Hathi Download Helper does not seem to be available for Linux. But your suggestion as to using a proxy was helpful. I merely had to activate a proxy and write a small script to download all pages of the book as images. I put these together and uploaded the resulting pdf to Archive.org.
