Aphrodite, Athena and Artemis were all daughters of Zeus. Apparently the sexual... errrr... liberality... of the Greeks only went so far.
Most stories had Aphrodite being the daughter of Uranus.

Oh yes, the product of his "sea foam". But I wouldn't say that popping out of someone's head or sea foam forbids you from marrying them.

The hard part about this choice is that the Greek Gods had some human qualities and could not be perfectly flawless. Some of the Gods made their own mistakes. Take the Titan, Cronus, for example. Cronus was overthrown by Zeus. He made mistakes in his decisions.

According to the Oxford Classical Dictionary (which you might find on the discount rack like I did, if you're lucky), Hesiod says she is the product of "the severed genitals of Uranus", while Homer says she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione.
I, Lex Llama, super genius, will one day rule this planet! And then you'll rue the day you messed with me, you damned dirty apes!

If Aphrodite offers erotic beauty, Athene offers wisdom & Here offers - hell, no one knows what she offers - then, since I am male, I have no choice but to choose Aphrodite. Which I did. I shall now expect my gift. Any time now... oh yeah... when you're ready Aphrodite, now would be a good time... yep, any minute now, I can feel it...

I think I can solve that conundrum. If your parents were the severed genitals of Uranus & the ocean, would you tell the truth to your friends? Or come up with some story about your dad being the king of the gods & your mum a nice little innocent nymph? Would make it easier for you to invite your boyfriend round to your parents' place for dinner:)

Zeus' choice was a little more complicated than just choosing the more attractive one... Here was his sister & Aphrodite his daughter. God knows how Zeus [no anachronism] got himself in a situation where it could only be his sister or his daughter for his wife - what was wrong with the goddesses in the next village? - but if I were ever forced to make the same decision - please God, Zeus, Allah, Krishna, Bhudda, one of you guys, no!!! - I'd probably take the sister option too:(

And nerds are not socially inept (why then would we start a forum like this?)!!!

Hera is the goddess of maternity and childbirth (perfectly respectable in my view... shows the status of that classical libido (how sick!)).

My vote goes to... well... none of them... as the fairest goddess, but the fairest... ehm... of the fictional figments of the classical imagination... is Athena.

Knowledge, virtue, self-discipline and wisdom are so much better than sexual appeal, muscular figure, fame, or wealth.

Aphrodite and Hera, sorry. I'm always honest (and I detest [face=SPIonic]pornei/a[/face])

"fair - 1. Of pleasing appearance, especially because of a pure or fresh quality; comely."
...wouldn't that make Artemis the fairest of them all?

I voted for Athena, because I think it's one's personality that makes one Fair, and Athena has always struck me as the nicest goddess of the three.

But, of course, your ladyships, Hera and Aphrodite are lovely too. *bows obsequiously...*

Am also a nerd.

Well, people who sit around discussing which of the mythical goddesses is the fairest are pretty much nerds by definition. It's like discussing which star trek character would win in a fight....

Athena vs. the Borg Queen.

Or maybe Vulcan vs. Vulcan.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

all nerds aside, am I the only one that remembers that Hera offered ultimate power? i.e. to rule the world? Come on, people, if I was the supreme dictator of a land, I could have all the women I'd ever want! And with money from taxes lining my pocket, I could buy all the books I'd ever need to learn anything I'd want! Hera gets my vote ;)

Uh... Spock maybe? Because like... uh... he has pointy ears? :? Elf-like...
:P
This borg-queen-thing looks like she's covered in slime and stuck in the Matrix, yuck. I think Athena wins against her hands down.
