TABULA QUARTA
Coming, arriving, coming back. Venire, redire.

Where are you coming from? Unde advenis? Πόθεν ἥκεις;

I come from Francis’ house. A Francisco venio.

I’m coming back soon. Ego mox huc revertor.

I’ll come back as soon as possible. Quam mox veniam.

Wait a minute. Stay there one moment. Paulisper mane.

Wait for me a little while. Opperire me parumper.

I’ll go not far, I’ll be back at once. Non longius recedam, jam hic adero.

I have been waiting here for a long time. Jamdiu (jamdudum) exspecto.

I often come to the city. Venio frequens in urbem.

We have been here for a long time. We arrived long time ago. Jamdiu factum est cum (postquam) venimus.

Will you come? —Yes, I will. Veniesne? —Etiam. Numnam venies (venias)? —Certe.

Will you come or won’t you? Veniesne annon? Ἧξεις ἢ οὔ;

Are you coming tomorrow? —Yes, but in the afternoon. Veniesne cras? —Ego vero, sed sub vesperum.

What day are you coming? Ad quem diem redibis? Ad quae tempora venies? Πρὸς τίνα ἡμέραν ἐπανελεύσῃ; Πρὸς τίνα χρόνον;

Come whenever you like. Ubi vis, accede.

Will you be here soon? Advenis modo? Ἔναγχος ἀφικνῇ;

I was met by him at just the right moment. Commodum obviam mihi venit.

I was going to meet you. Ego obviam tibi conabar.

You are arriving in time. Per tempus venis.

You are here late (a little late). [Justo] tardius (tardiuscule) venisti.

I wish you were here right now. Mihi morae est quod non adsis.

Why have you come here? Quae te causa impulit ut huc venires? Τί ποτέ σε προήγαγε δεῦρο ἔρχεσθαι;

Hurry up, come back right now. Propera, actutum huc redi.

Francis is coming back from the city. Franciscus ab urbe redit.

He is from Africa. Adest ex Africa.

How long ago did he come back? Quampridem rediit? Διὰ πόσου χρόνου ἐπανῆλθε;

He came to see me not long ago. Non ita pridem me convenit.

Why did you not let him in? Quidni eum intro misisti? Τί μὴ αὐτὸν εἰσήγαγες;

I’ll take him here. Huc coram adducam illum.

Now then when will he come again? Quando (ecquando) redibit (rediturus est, revertet)? Πότε (δὴ) ἐπανελεύσεται (ἀνήξει, ἀναχωρήσει);

He will return tomorrow at the latest. Ut tardissime cras redibit.

Who has knocked at my door? Quisnam a me pepulit fores? Τίς μου θύραν ἔκρουσε;

He is waiting at the entrance. Ad januam (ex-)spectat.

Come in; otherwise, I’ll shut the door. Ingredere, sin aliter occludam fores.
