Latin and Greek are a great joy to me. I enjoy the intellectual stimulation the linguistics and literature provide. I like language in general and the exploring source of Western thought: how Plato and Aristotle influenced the Catholic, and the former Lutheran/Calvinist too, church, the impact of Latin on the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and neoclassical obsession with the ancients. Classics is thus particularly congruous for me. It is, in short, endlessly fascinating.
I am not particularly advanced, I wish to use this site to further my undertanding of the grammatical concepts that Latin and Greek elegantly illustrate and their materiaisations. I eventually hope to read the Classical texts in their unadulterated majesty. But I have been fortunate in the manifold blessings of interesting teachers and I should like to help others with explanations/examples/theories that I have found particularly useful and perhaps liven the forum with the odd witticism or anecdote.
Floreat forum.
